I'm back!

Look now, I know I haven't blogged in a while and I am deeply sorry. (Really, I honestly am.)
But I just completed my third last year of high school (oh yes I did) and with all the other extra curricular stuff I do it was totally and utterly insane (it was apeshit) and I barely had time to breathe (not really, if I stopped breathing I would not be here: I'd be dead and gone) but I am back and I'm sorry for abandoning my blog for almost 6 months (holy crap it's been that long).

Have you heard about the Love 365 project on Chicken Soup for the Dorky Soul? Recently I sent in an entry and the ever so lovely Vanessa placed it on her blog. Oh yes, I was that Sarah chick. Basically, you send in a short email full of things that you heart. If you're like me and love sending letters to strangers you will love this so much. Sooo much. There's not much time left to do it though, so like you should do it. Like, now.

And speaking of things I love...

Who is super pumped to see Mr. Depp in his latest film, The Tourist? Me, that's who. I think I'll just have to take some of my Johnny loving friends and find time to see it in amongst all of this Christmas chaos.

How are your silly seasons going?

ps. I promise, I'll be back soon, in less than a week with a proper post with some interesting stuff. I PROMISE.

pps. Bee-tee-dubs, (oh yes I am so uber cool I say it all Juno-like) speaking of the silly season, here are some super cute gift tags. Free. And Printable.

Thank you to all the lovely people who said and did wonderful things for me today, made it less of such a tiresome school day. And to Brittany for her awesome card!
It made my arvo, it really did.

PS. I know I haven't blogged in forever, sorry! But I really need to take a blogging holiday as I am currently in the dreaded assessment time at school. I'll be back as soon as I can (probably the end of this month).

Bye for now, but not forever!

Eek!

My favourite band has a new song out - and they have stolen my heart yet once again.

You can download this song for free off Mystery Jets' website.

Has April really ended?

How time flies.
It sometimes feels like minutes when it is actually hours...

However, where there are ends, there are new beginnings; and hopefully I can make the most of May.
This month I want to learn how to play the ukelele. I have had one for ages, just never got around to learning it. So that's going to add to guitar and piano.

Here are some of my memorablia from the past month.

Oh so busy.

Here are some new art journal pages I have been working on...
I think I'm going to make them into a new series, of girls with hats looking down.

This one is not done yet!

I do love creating art! It's wonderful.

And so my dears, yes I growing increasingly busy. High school is taking it's toll. Rowing season has also begun, so it's back to early mornings.

I'm off to practise some guitar.
Hope you have a lovely week.

How to Make a Braidy Anklet

Now here is something exciting.

Anklets are way cooler than bracelets, everyone knows that. Why they are is just not important.

If you want an anklet just like the cool kids are wearing but want it to be even cooler, you need this. If you make your own and just wear it and when someone asks you: "Schweet anklet. Where'd you get it from?"
You can sound uber amazing and say: "I made it."

An added bonus is that these are really quick and easy to create so it just adds to the awesomeness.

So here it is.

You will need: Some embroidery threads, in 3 different colours. These should be available at your local arts 'n' crafts shop or I imagine they should be buyable online.

Cut each different coloured thread  about 1.4 metres long.
Then, cut each of the three threads into half. You should now have six threads ready to work with.

About 3-4 cm from the top, tie all of the threads into a double knot.

Separate your threads into different colours. Take the one strand and with it, tie a knot around all of the other threads. Do this ten times.

Again, separate your threads into colours again, but this time, braid with these strands, until you form a braid that is approximately the same length as the section you created in the previous step. Like pictured.

Now take a strand that is a different colour from the one that you used in step 3, and with it complete step three again. Repeat steps 3-4 until you reach the desired length.

When you have completed the prior instructions, tie a double knot at the end of your anklet and leave only about 4cm of free threads after that, cutting off any excess. Again using a double knot, tie it around the ankle that you made it for.

How easy was it? Now you too can expose your ankles without shame.

However, if you were ambitious, you could use this recipe to create not only anklets, but also lovely bracelets, headbands, shoe laces... anything else you could think of actually.
Let your juices of creativity flow.

Happy Friday!

Looks Like Talent Runs in the Family

I have said this before, I am not like the average teenage chick.

I love maths, and now I will confess I absolutely adore my younger sister.

Oh yes sure, we do fight occasionally but asides from that she is a wonderful person to be around. One of the teachers at school told me that he saw her skipping around the cross country course on Cross Country Day and that she was singing "We're off to see the wizard...".

To top it off, Jess is a fantastic artiste.
Take a look.

And here are some extremely cute masterpieces J has created on the windows application, Paint.

Awww. Well while I have these warm and fuzzy feelings of pride in my chest, I hope you are having a lovely evening.
Also, I have an exciting DIY coming up on Friday, so there's always that to look foward too if the rest of your week is horrible.

The Times

I have been having a pretty good time this week, sipping away on endless amounts of glasses of water and watching iCarly every evening. Yes, I watch that show and I like it and I am an epic dork.

[above and below: some old photos of mine which have been polaroidised with the computer app I talked about a while ago]

I have also been very busy on a little project of my own, which I may showcase some other time. (I'm making it for a friend so I don't really want to talk to about it right now... it's meant to be a surprise!)
It should be finished by tomorrow, so that will be great!

I hope you're having a lovely time.
